Itinerary.
Welcome to Prague. Remarkable architecture, rich history and excellent eating, drinking and shopping options: There is something for everyone in this gorgeous city on the Vltava River.
The flight departs early, arriving into Prague just before 11am. Our hip hotel is located inside a former luxury communist hotel in Holešovice, offering unusually spacious dimensions and interesting history alongside the brand’s usual riot of vibrant, whimsical décor and killer food and cocktails. We’ll sweep by the main sights, taking in the 360 views (and hip bubble seats) from the Zizkov TV Tower, with very possibly the best views of the city – then across the famed Charles Bridge into Stare Mesto, snap some portraits of the ornate guards outside Hradcany Castle and drink in some of the historic grand cafes that retain the soul of the city.
Prague is a city blessed with bohemian speakeasy-type bars, if you know where to find them. Off the Old Town Square, we’ll swing by one of the world's top hotel bars, a 1930s-inspired underground cocktail bar with original Gothic and Romanesque masonry, leather seating, dark-wood furniture and glass vitrines.
Prague's Charles Bridge is a Gothic masterpiece which spans the Vltava River in the Czech capital. It is so iconic it has its own museum.
And the best time to shoot there is at dawn; there’s something so magical about the morning mist and fog hovering of the statues that line the bridge. Arriving just before sunrise, the first light of dawn will start to colour the skies creating separation for the statues from the background overlooking the river and Prague Castle. It’s simply stunning.
Later, we’ll take a tour of Prague’s famed street art, taking in the Lennon Wall, Banksy, then off to hipster Zizkov featuring pieces by Pasta Oner, Jan Kaláb and Michal Škapa.
Later, we’ll head to the cavernous U Fleku, dating from 1499, unrivalled within Prague with great beers, food and live music – perfect for some music photography.
Reportage spots in Prague are a plenty, today we’ll cross the Charles, head to Wenceslas, and dive underground searching for those killer documentary shots.
In our final morning, we’ll delve deeper into the city, looking for life behind the scenes. We’ll shoot some portraits of musicians and artists, take a tram and shoot scenes through vintage glass, meet the locals in Wenceslas and head underground to use the eastern European backdrops as inspiration.
After lunch, we’ll take stock of all of our images from the trip, reviewing together as a group and picking out the gems for our collection – just in time to board our flight home for a weekend in one of Europe’s most vibrant capital cities.
