Top 10 Photography Holidays
Best Photo Breaks AWARD logo

Hello there. We’re Creative Escapes. Since 2007, our award-winning photography holidays & photography workshops have been taking our clients from Beginner to Bailey in no time.  Recommended by The Sunday TelegraphThe GuardianWall Street Journal and many more, our hand-built luxury photography holidays combine boutique accommodation, off-the-beaten track activities, low-tech tuition and small group sizes.

Our aim is always to show you the highlights of every country we visit, but we’re well known for our adventures off the beaten track, so you have a unique, exclusive itinerary not normally experienced by other tourists. So whether that’s meeting Fidel Castro’s personal photographer at his house in downtown Havana to shooting a living goddess in a hidden temple in Kathmandu, you’ll be sure to have experiences on a Creative Escapes photography holiday that you won’t get anywhere else.

Get in touch to see why and where we can take you. We hope that you can join our clients, who return to us year after year looking for that next level experience.

We believe photography holidays shouldn’t be all about shutter speeds, big lenses and thick camera manuals. So we spend only the first part of our photographic holidays getting you comfortable with your equipment –  leaving the rest of our creative holidays to concentrate on getting you pictures that make you say ‘wow’. You’ll get under the skin of the country, touring only authentic locations so you get the inside track to richer, more immersive experiences – and try out lots of different styles of photography – landscapes, still life, portraits, reportage, action – and see which one suits you best.

Our small groups of eight allow our professional tutors to give you plenty of 1-on-1 tuition. These aren’t photography holidays where you all line up at sunset and point your cameras west. This is individual, tailored tuition so you come home with a collection of images you never thought you could take. Along the way, our experience as professional travel photographers has given us useful skills to sniff out the only the plushest boutique hotels, restaurants only the locals know about (and want to keep quiet) – and plan night’s out that’ll still be giggled about years later. This a holiday, after all.

Come and see why 65% of our clients return on one of our award-winning photographic holidays, and learn the art of contemporary photography in style.

All our material is hand-crafted from years of professional photography for top brands, magazines and galleries – and as far away as possible from the monthly magazine ‘tip’. We don’t ever tell you the ‘5 best ways of …’ doing something;  instead we find your way – our small groups allows us to teach each of you independently, at your own pace. Whether you are an absolute beginner or seasoned shooter, we use a mix of visual examples, 1-to-1 teaching and mentoring, and regular, detailed reviews, to push your work to levels you never thought you could reach.

From 2017, each trip we offer has completely different material – across all skill levels – so if you’re coming with us again, it’s all new. From how to shoot relaxed portraits, get to the heart of a scene (without disturbing it), capture a moment and translate that killer idea into the perfect shot, we’ve got plenty of tips to help you.

And if you’re just starting out, we’ll get you fully to speed, manually using your camera quickly with confidence, and then some. We spend only a fraction of the holiday on the technical (actually its pretty simple when you know how), the rest learning the art of taking great photographs.

It’s the most interesting bit, after all.

"These creative holidays are fantastic ... tuition pitched perfectly to where you are at (always with a big dose of fun and an element of a challenge). You get to immerse yourself in the most wonderful destinations (allowing you to really get under the skin of your surroundings). Spot on attention to detail from the hotels and restaurants to the assignments. Plus I have made some fantastic new, like-minded buddies. I am already excited about my next adventure with them."
