Fred McGregor is a photographer and filmmaker who has worked commercially and editorially around the world across travel, luxury, lifestyle and industry. He’s drawn to places, people and the small details that give a destination its character.

With a background in anthropology, Fred brings a genuine curiosity about culture and the way people live. His approach is observant, natural and low-intervention, which makes him a very good person to explore a place with.

What’s a tiny travel ritual you’ve picked up somewhere and kept?
“Always pack your own mini bottle of Tabasco.”

What do travellers tend to notice that tourists don’t?
“Travellers take part in their surroundings. More often than not, tourists are just looking at them.”

What’s the best thing food has ever taught you about a place?
“Food and culture are closely linked. Confucian beliefs lead Koreans to share food generously. No matter the quality of the meal, I’m always grateful to have broken bread with new acquaintances.”
